Kiefel presents rPET thermoforming at the VDMA Pavilion

At the VDMA Dome during K 2025, Sven Engelmann, Vice President Technology at Kiefel, will present how recycled PET can be transformed into premium thin-wall packaging. Under the title “Born Again. In Better Shape.”, he will demonstrate the process and performance of rPET thermoforming on the SPEEDFORMER KTR 6.2 Speed.

Using Coexpan film on the SPEEDFORMER KTR 6.2 Speed, Engelmann shows how efficient, precise and reliable the thermoforming process is – even with post-consumer recycled (PCR) material. Tests prove that rPET delivers comparable forming accuracy, stackability, and material distribution as virgin materials – all while maintaining an energy input of just 1.17 kWh per 1,000 cups.

“Recycled PET today can deliver the same performance as virgin material in thermoforming – opening up new perspectives for sustainable packaging,” says Engelmann.
