Selection of possible materials

  • PLA: Biopolymers from renewable raw materials

    Polylactide (PLA) is a biodegradable polymer made from renewable resources such as corn starch or sugar cane. Ideal for sustainable food packaging, disposable cutlery and films. Due to its composition, it has low heat resistance, but is perfectly suited for environmentally friendly applications and offers excellent transparency and rigidity.

  • (r)PET: Transparent and sustainable packaging

    Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a lightweight, transparent and robust material, ideal for beverage bottles, food containers and thermoformed trays. PET is recyclable into rPET, supports the circular economy, reduces plastic waste and impresses with its clarity and high strength.

  • C-PET: Heat-resistant & recyclable

    Crystalline polyethylene terephthalate (C-PET) is heat-resistant and ideal for the production of food packaging that is heated in microwaves and ovens. It remains stable at high temperatures, is often used for ready meal trays and is recyclable.

  • PS: Versatile for the food industry

    Polystyrene (PS) is a lightweight, rigid plastic used for food packaging such as cups, trays, and clamshells. With heat resistance up to 80 °C, it is suitable for warm food and drinks. Although PS is recyclable, low return rates and high costs make recycling difficult, making it only partially suitable for use in sustainable packaging solutions.

  • PP: Durable and adaptable

    Polypropylene (PP) is a versatile polymer known for its durability, flexibility, and heat resistance—ideal for microwave-safe food containers, medical packaging, and hot beverage cups. PP is recyclable and has impressive high strength and chemical resistance.

  • PE: Versatile packaging solutions

    Polyethylene (PE) is a versatile polymer with high chemical resistance, flexibility and impact resistance. It is used for yogurt pots and margarine tubs as well as durable packaging. PE is available as HDPE and LDPE, each with specific properties to meet different packaging requirements.
